Your InstructorJohnny Reed has over 30 years experience in weight training and exercise for improved health, fitness and performance. At various times he has competed in bodybuilding, powerlifting, and Olympic-style weightlifting. He currently competes regularly in Scottish Heavy Athletics (Highland Games). Johnny earned a first degree black belt in Hapkido and has trained in a variety of other martial arts including T’ai Chi Ch’uan. In addition, he has studied other exercise systems such as kettlebells, yoga, Pilates and qigong. Johnny is a NESTA Certified Adventure Fitness Trainer and Authorized Adventure Boot Camp Facilitator, and is certified as a Personal Trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is also a certified USA Weightlifting Club Coach and a Level 1 CrossFit Trainer, and is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Johnny brings a strong academic background to his fitness coaching, having graduated with honors from Appalachian State University with a B.S. in biology and chemistry, and completed a year of graduate study in the Locomotion Studies Program in the Department of Exercise & Sport Science at Pennsylvania State University. |

A 1989 graduate of the Atlanta School of Massage, Johnny is Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork and a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. He holds certifications in neuromuscular therapy, clinical sports massage, craniosacral therapy and pregnancy massage. He has practiced massage therapy in a variety of settings and has worked with athletes from a variety of sports including martial arts, powerlifting, weightlifting, bodybuilding, track & field, canoe, kayak, and rowing. In addition, Johnny was formerly Director of Education at the Atlanta School of Massage, where he developed and taught classes in anatomy & physiology, pathology, kinesiology, principles of exercise & conditioning, stretching, orthopedic assessment, and hydrotherapy, as well as massage history, theory and technique. Johnny attempts to apply his diverse background and interests in a practical, effective manner, combining the traditional scientific/medical model with a holistic philosophy. He strongly believes that such a synthesis offers the best approach to achieving optimum health and performance for his clients. In addition to leading Hall County Adventure Boot Camp, Johnny offers personal training and massage therapy at HealthQuest Personal Training located on Atlanta Highway in Flowery Branch, GA.
